Walk signal mechanisms are a constant source of wonder and contemplation as I’m waiting to cross a street. They exhibit great variation in construction, operation, and labeling (which is odd since they are such a basic devices with minimal and universal messaging requirements). They degrade quite nicely in their environment thanks to a combination of weathering, use, abuse, and tagging.
